Daniel invites Sam Cagle to his home to show off his pizza making technique. Sam left his corporate job to be a stay-at-home dad in San Diego, where a desire to start his own business led to him becoming the pizza influencer and pizza steel entrepreneur known as Dough Guy. Sam’s obsession with perfecting his recipe and technique has helped thousands of people make pizzeria quality pies in their home ovens and his own pizza received a top score from connoisseur Dave Portnoy.

Daniel gets his morning fix from Malibu coffee shop manager Amir Anvari. Amir grew up in Iran, then spent brief stints in Paris and Dubai before settling in California almost two years ago. He opens up to Daniel about his childhood in Tehran, making friends in a new country, and how he remembers all his regular customer’s orders.

A Los Angeles native with experience in hospice care and as a chaplain, Jill opens up about what a death doula actually does day to day, how she got into this deeply human line of work, the emotional reality of sitting with terminally ill patients — including those who choose to end their lives on their own terms — and what families go through in those final chapters. It's a conversation about death that somehow ends up being mostly about life.

Daniel sits down with Rodney Wallace, his son’s soccer coach. After a career that included an NCAA Championship, MLS Cup Championship, and a FIFA World Cup appearance for Costa Rica, Rodney has taken up residence in Malibu and started a rapidly growing youth soccer league.

Daniel asks endoscopy nurse Gabby Perez about what really goes on in the procedure room during a colonoscopy. After stints working in a veterinary ER, a NICU, and a med spa, she now works at an endoscopy center in Texas where she’s seen torturous colons, cancer diagnoses, and what can only be described as bad prep.

Daniel finds his seat across the table from flight attendant Anthony. The Arizona-based crew member dishes on the best and worst of passenger behavior, what it was like growing up closeted in Wisconsin, and why on a good day he doesn’t do any of the things he’s actually trained to do.
