CHAN LI HANG inspects the construction site. He meets the site supervisor, CHOW KA TSUN. They join force to put off the fire at the site and leave a deep impression on each other. TSUN takes care of his daughter, WAI MAN and his son, WAI KIT by himself. TSUN is very bad-temper, thus, he always quarrel with MAN. MAN obtained a reward in a youth beauty contest. TSUN scolds her. MAN leaves home and stay at her aunt, CHOW KA PIK's, home. HANG loves his wife, MAK YUEN YEE, deeply. YEE is pregnant. HANG takes very good care of her. HANG's brother-in-law, SI HO (YEE's younger brother) is in league with the contractor, LEE, to squeeze money by using inferior materials. It leads to a flood at the well. TSUN's subordinate, MING, covets for money and sacrifices his life in the well. TSUN hits LEE with a fire extinguisher in a towering anger. The police charges TSUN. HANG is very depressed. He drives when he is drunk and leads to a car accident.

HANG knocks a pedestrian down, the police charges him. He is in a very bad mood. With HO's instigation, HANG is dismissed. TSUN handles MING's funeral and fights for a reasonable compensation for MING. He thus ignores the police warning. KIT fought at school. TSUN even scolds KIT's teacher. MAN is very dissatisfied with TSUN. The father and daughter relationship further deteriorates. TSUN regrets as he found that LEE is seriously injured. He admits his fault and is being sentenced to nine months imprisonment. HANG's another brother-in-law (YEE's elder brother), HONG, pretends that he is helping HANG and recommends him a barrister. This barrister misleads HANG. HANG is thus being sentenced to six months imprisonment. YEE faints after the adjudication.

HANG worries a lot of YEE who is sick. HANG is not used to the life at the prison. The prisoners humbug him. He requests to ring home but is not allowed. He is very depressed. YEE has been miscarried the baby. Though she is very weak, she still wants to go to visit HANG. However, her mother, CHIU MEI CHING, stops YEE from visiting HANG. YEE's mother-in-law is so exhausted that she faints at home. HANG is very upset as nobody visited him. An officer, TAM CHI SHAN, goes to the prison the first time to introduce them the details of her work. However, the prisoners play trick on her. TSUN quarrels with one of the prisoner, TAI SHUN. TSUN is then arranged to stay at HANG's gaol. HANG is very uncooperative. The leader of the gaol, LI SHING, is very dissatisfied with him and always finds fault on him. HANG is collapsed and he attempts to commit suicide.

HANG intends to commit suicide. Fortunately, TSUN stops him in time. SHAN knows that HANG has longed for his wife`s call. SHAN rings YEE for HANG`s sake. However, CHING devises to spoil HANG and YEE`s reunion and stop SHAN to contact YEE directly. TSUN has offended SHUN. He is attacked. Fortunately, SHING and HANG save TSUN. MAN intends to investigate why her photo was used in a magazine cover without her consent. A lesbian convinces YAN to take some sexy photos instead. YEE is busy in securing a mortgage for her flat. Coincidentally, the flat is belonged to her old lover, LAU CHUNG LIN. LIN wants to chase YEE. Thus, he is willing to help her. SHAN prepares for the student reunion gathering enthusiastically. Unexpectedly, SHUN takes this chances to take revenge on TSUN.

TSUN is hurt by SONG for the sake of saving SHAN. SHAN feels very grateful for his rescue. Since then SHAN cares a lot for TSUN`s whole family. When SHAN knew that YAN likes MAN abnormally. SHAN and CONNIE then disclose that YAN is a lesbian. MAN feels grateful for SHAN`s help. Meanwhile, SHAN discovers that TSUN does not guide his children well. SHAN gives TSUN advice but TSUN does not accept her goodwill. SHAN suspects YEE and LIN`s relation. She makes use of HO to approach YEE. YEE accepts LIN`s proposal in order to earn a living. She handle the interior design for LIN`s luxurious apartment. She even asks HO to do the renovation work. TSUN, HANG and SHING become very good friends in prison. One day, they are mowing the lawn. SHING falls into a well carelessly. TUSN risks to save SHING.

TSUN and HANG save SHING from the well. YEE tidies up HANG`s room as she knew that HANG will release very soon. Meanwhile, she is also busy for the renovation work of LIN`s luxurious apartment. The prisoners celebrate for HANG for his release. HANG is touched. HANG vexes for finding a job after release. HANG feels very upset as he does not see YEE after release. Someone employs HANG to be the authorized architect of a project in Mainland China. HANG accepts the offer gladly. TSUN also finds job with his friend`s help.

TSUN and the others are brought to the police station. They blame on each other. SHAN does not sue TSUN. The relationship between TSUN and MAN deteriorate. KIT then lives in SUN's home temporarily. The supervisor, LI SZE, spreads the rumor against TSUN. It makes TSUN more difficult to get a job. TSUN is very depressed. KIT thinks that TSUN will never return home. He waits TSUN at the football playground. TSUN slaps KIT as he thought that KIT has played truant. Since then KIT is very scared of TSUN.

HANG thinks that LIN is interested in YEE. Thus, HANG sells his flat at a low price so that he could repay his debt to LIN. YEE tries to stop HANG but is in vain. HANG gives the cheque to LIN and asks him to keep away from YEE. SHAN witnesses the scene. She proposes HANG to stay in SUN's home for one night so as to calm himself down. SUN sets up a firm, the Reforming Association, to help the ex-prisoner. TSUN works at his firm as cleaner. KIT fights with his classmate. He fell down from the wired metal and is being sent to the hospital. The psychologist points out that KIT is very scared of TSUN as TSUN is emotionally very unstable. The doctor wants TSUN to see him regularly. HONG instigates LIN to buy up the Yik Fai Company. HANG discovers the photo in a magazine. He is very jealous. He wants to divorce with YEE. YEE is heart-broken.

When WAI and CHING heard that YEE is going to divorce, CHING supports while WAI persuades YEE to think carefully. TSUN is very annoyed when he is having the psychological treatment. SHAN comforts him. She even arranges KIT to go out with him. KIT is proud of his daddy who got full score in playing bowling. SHAN even proposes them to play go-cart cars together so as to narrow their gap. TSUN finds SHAN very gentle and kind. He got a special feeling on her. LIN is glad when he heard that YEE and LIN will divorce soon. HONG witnesses LIN's response. In order to approach LIN, HONG decides to make YEE and HANG separate. HONG and CHING cheat YEE and HANG to sign the separation document. YEE is heart-broken to see HANG who is so cold-blooded. She faints soon after she signed the separation document.

HANG moves into SUN's home. SHAN is sad to see HANG who is so depressed. JAN proposes YEE to travel to Tintsien. YEE meets LIN on the plane. She knows that it must be CHING's plot. TSUN waits for KIT at the Happy World. SHAN tells TSUN that KIT is reluctant to come. TSUN and SHAN participate in the games in the hope that they could win a remote control racing car for KIT. HANG attempts to commit suicide by jumping into the sea. Fortunately, SHAN and TSUN rescue HANG in time. TSUN and his friends are accused of stealing shoes at a shoe shop. Fortunately, SHAN finds out the real thief. In the pub, the saleslady of the shoe shop brings with her friends to take revenge on SHAN. TSUN scares them away. Since then CONNIE changes his impression on TSUN. Both SHAN and TSUN got a special feeling on each other.

After the pub incident, CONNIE tries her best to approach TSUN. HANG is very depressed since the divorce. SHAN comforts him. TSUN promises that he will work together with HANG in Hap Kwan Company. LI SHING does not work after released from prison. He disguises as the Correction Unit Officer and wins PIK`s trust. SHING meets TSUN. SHING takes the chance to steal a few precious perfumes at TSUN's working place. He then re-sells those perfumes to PIK's neighbour. He even steals PIK's money. PIK tells TSUN about SHING's bad deeds.

TSUN begs the Reforming Association not to charge SHING. SHAN contacts the victims to arrange compensation and to apologize. Nevertheless, they still lose their only customer. With SHAN`s encouragement, TSUN and HANG try their best to find new customer. CONNIE volunteers to bring KIT to see the doctor so as to approach TSUN. She makes TSUN and KIT very embarrassed when she is negotiating with the doctor. She treats herself as a family with TSUN and KIT. However, the gap between TSUN and KIT narrows after this incident. HO agrees to employ Hap Kwan Company to be the cleaning contractor for his firm for SHAN`s sake. TSUN meets YEE when he is cleaning at HO`s office. Both of them are very embarrassed.

With SHUN`s encouragement, HANG could eventually face YEE. TSUN is sad to see HANG and SHAN getting along well. However, he keeps tolerate. YEE cannot concentrate at work as HANG is cleaning at her office. HO asks SHAN to stop HANG working at his company. SHAN refuses. MAN is going to perform in a commercial together with a famous star. She does not inform TSUN as she fears that TSUN will stop her. TSUN discusses with SHAN. SHAN checks that there is no problem. TSUN is at ease. MAN gets to know a licentious substitute, POW TIN MING, during shooting. She is deeply attracted by him. In order to stop HANG see YEE, HO sets HANG up. HO sets a fire and imputes the fault to Hap Kwan Company.

HO thinks that he could stop HANG to go to his office. However, both LIN and YEE do not blame HANG. HO is very upset. TSUN cares a lot for MAN and KIT. The relationship among the three is getting better. HANG feels ashamed of himself as he sees that YEE is now a lot better than him. HO tries to approach SHAN. He even wants to take advantage on SHAN when she is drunk. Fortunately, HANG and TSUN arrive in time and stop HO. They fight against each other. All are brought to the police station. LIN and YEE go bail for HO. They meet HANG. All are very embarrassed. TSUN sees MING and MAN. TSUN opposes MAN to go out with MING. He even hits MING. MAN is sick of TSUN.

TSUN strongly opposes MAN to go out with MING. Both MAN and KIT are very dissatisfied with TSUN. TSUN follows MING to a transportation company. TSUN intends to warn MING. TSUN witnesses TAI SONG, who is quarreling with MING`s senior, LUNG. TSUN rescues SONG. HANG and TSUN know that SONG had experience in operating newspaper stall. They believe that Hap Kwan could try to run an newspaper stall. SONG is responsible to contact the newspaper distributor, TIN. TIN promises to allow them to handle the newspaper business in the new town, Tung Chung district, however, they need to pay hundred thousand deposit. They go everywhere to procure enough money. HANG`s father-in-law lends HANG a hand in this matter. YEE and LIN get along well with each other. TSUN tries hard to stop MING and MAN see each other. TSUN fights against MING in the Peak. TSUN and SHAN fall down from the slope carelessly.

TSUN and MAN are brought to the delinquent centre because of MING`s case. The relationship between TSUN and MAN deteriorates. The newspaper stall business is not good. HANG proposes the free-delivery service. The business grows. YEE eventually accepts LIN, however, she still cannot forget HANG. The relationship between HANG and SHAN is also improving. TSUN`s wife, LAI KEE, backs to Hong Kong. She wants to see her daughter and son. Hap Kwan does not pay LUNG the required protection fee. LUNG`s subordinates sets up a fire to burn Hap Kwan Company. YEE knows that HANG is in the office. She risks her life to rescue HANG.

YEE is injured for the sake of saving HANG. They show their real concern during difficulties. SHAN is very upset. SONG knows that it was LUNG`s deed. SONG prepares to take revenge. SHAN and TSUN try to stop them. They ignore the roadblock so as to divert the police attention. SONG could then flee away successfully. TSUN is very dissatisfied with KEE who only satisfies KIT and MAN`s material needs. KEE finds that KIT is very unstable emotionally. She questions TSUN. Hap Kwan continues their newspaper business. LUNG is very dissatisfied. He attacks SHAN. TSUN saves SHAN in time. LUNG is arrest by the police. LIN proposes to marry YEE. YEE refuses him. LIN knows that YEE still misses HANG. LIN allows HANG to work in his office so that they could compete for YEE in a fair way.

SHAN fears that HANG and YEE will reunite, thus, she opposes HANG to work at Yik Fai Company. However, TSUN supports HANG and encourages HANG. KEE brings MAN and KIT to the hotel. They get along well with KEE`s husband who is a foreigner. TSUN is very upset. CONNIE always bothers TSUN. TSUN vents his grievance in front of SHAN. TSUN believes that love should come natural and cannot be compelled. He even uses HANG and YEE as an example. SHAN eventually understands that HANG still loves his wife the most. Thus, SHAN accepts the fact calmly when HANG proposes to separate with him. HANG concentrates in his work. LIN supports him. HONG and HO know that LIN uses HANG to counter-resist them. KEE wants to take care MAN and KIT. TSUN refuses.

TSUN and KEE fight for the right of fostering their son and daughter. MAN is very angry when she heard about the case. She vents her anger in the Karaoke. She offends the people in the Karaoke. Fortunately, MING saves MAN in time. They flee away to the park and ask SHAN to help. SHAN devises to make MAN and TSUN talk with each other. TSUN is hurt for the sake of saving MAN. HANG finds out that somebody has used inferior materials in construction. However, he does not have sufficient evidence. TSUN advises him to check the site lorry everyday. Meanwhile, he got help from YEE. The relationship between HANG and YEE has improved. Both MAN and KIT do not want to follow their mother to Australia. KEE does not want to compel them. She agrees to go to Japan with them for vacation. KIT is fighting at school. He fears that TSUN will scold him. He thus ignores TSUN and dashes away from school.

TSUN understands that he is not a good father. He nearly makes KIT die. He decides to give up the right of fostering KIT and MAN. He promises to pass the right to KEE. HANG confirms that someone is using inferior materials in construction. However, he has no evidence. HO and HONG know that HANG could not testify against them and the deadline is due. They know that TSUN is helping HANG. They then set SHING up and make him being arrested so as to obstruct their investigation. TSUN and his friends are released. They immediately continue their investigation. They eventually find some evidence. Unfortunately, there is a landslide, TSUN and HANG are being trapped. Their life are at stake……..
