The Missing Children

Catherine Corless, a Tuam resident with an interest in local history, discovered that the 796 children who died in the home could have been buried in a sewage tank, put there by the nuns in charge.

Many of the children who survived the Tuam institution, and were forcibly adopted out, mainly to the USA, and often in return for large sums of money that went directly to the nuns.

The Irish government is due to release the Commission of Investigation’s report into Mother & Baby homes. Relatives and survivors hope this might finally mean they will receive some form of justice.
