Batanes is the smallest province in the Philippines and home to a close-knit community of Ivatan people whose culture has been shaped by the powerful winds and seas surrounding these remote islands.

Bulacan is known as the "Gateway to the Northern Philippines" and serves as a vital cultural and economic link between Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. As the third most populous province in the country, it is a massive industrial and residential powerhouse with deep-seated roots in traditional trade and revolutionary history.

Pampanga is widely known as the “Culinary Capital of the Philippines,” celebrated for its rich food culture and deep-rooted cooking traditions. Home to over 2.4 million people, the province blends agricultural heritage with urban growth, while preserving a strong identity shaped by generations of craftsmanship, community, and cuisine.

Part of Region III (Central Luzon), Bataan is a province of roughly 890,000 people, set on a peninsula along Manila Bay and defined by its mix of coastal towns and inland communities. Today, it’s a province where industrial zones, local communities, and quiet coastal stretches coexist within a compact but varied landscape.

Part of Region III (Central Luzon), Zambales is a province of roughly 680,000 people, stretched along the western coast of Luzon and shaped by its mix of mountains, protected forests, and long coastal towns facing the West Philippine Sea. Today, it’s a province where laid-back beach culture, former military zones, and dense natural landscapes all coexist within one of the most geographically varied parts of Central Luzon.

Part of Region III (Central Luzon), Tarlac is a province of roughly 1.5 million people, located between the lowland cities of Central Luzon and the volcanic landscapes surrounding Mount Pinatubo. Historically shaped by migration and cultural overlap, it’s often considered one of the most diverse crossroads in Luzon—where Kapampangan, Ilocano, Tagalog, Pangasinense, and Indigenous Aeta communities all intersect in different ways.

Part of Region I (Ilocos Region), Pangasinan is a province of over 3.1 million people, known for its long coastline, major fishing industry, and some of the largest milkfish (bangus) production in the country. Home to four major cities and a mix of urban centers and coastal towns, the province has also grown into one of Northern Luzon’s biggest domestic tourism hubs, attracting millions of visitors yearly through destinations spread across the Lingayen Gulf.

Part of Region I (Ilocos Region), La Union is a province of over 850,000 people facing the West Philippine Sea. Known today for its beaches, cafés, and surf culture, the province recorded one of the highest tourism growth rates in the Ilocos Region and now welcomes over half a million visitors annually—remarkable for a province that, not long ago, was largely overlooked by domestic travelers.

Part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Benguet is a mountainous province best known for its cool temperatures, pine forests, and highland culture. It serves as the gateway to many of Northern Luzon’s most iconic mountain destinations, including Mt. Pulag, the highest peak in Luzon. Though Baguio is geographically located within Benguet, the province’s capital is La Trinidad, and beyond the city’s familiar cafés and mountain tourism lies one of the country’s most important food-producing landscapes—Benguet alone accounted for nearly 80% of CAR’s major vegetable production in 2024.

Part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ifugao is a highland province of just over 210,000 people, known not only for its rice terraces but for a living agricultural system shaped by forests, water, stone, and community labor. Its UNESCO-inscribed terrace clusters span several municipalities and remain among the clearest examples of how Indigenous engineering turned steep mountain landscapes into places of settlement and food.

Part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Mountain Province is a highland province of roughly 160,000 people, where towering limestone cliffs, centuries-old rice terraces, and living Indigenous traditions extend far beyond Sagada. Historically, Bontoc served as the administrative center of the old Mountain Province that once encompassed much of today’s Cordillera, and agriculture remains the province’s primary livelihood today.

Part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Kalinga is a mountainous province of roughly 235,000 people, shaped by the Chico River and the valleys, terraces, and communities that have long developed around it. Beyond its better-known tattooing traditions, the province carries a deep history of Indigenous resistance and land defense, while its capital, Tabuk, opens into broad lowland plains that stand in sharp contrast to the steep mountain terrain of western Kalinga.

Part of Region II (Cagayan Valley), Cagayan is the Philippines’ northernmost mainland province, home to the remote Babuyan Islands and one of the country’s richest concentrations of endemic wildlife. Once the heart of the Spanish-era Province of Cagayan—which originally stretched across much of Northeastern Luzon—the province also preserves traces of a much older past, with archaeological discoveries in the region pushing back the timeline of human habitation in the Philippines by tens of thousands of years

Part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Apayao is the Philippines’ least densely populated province, with just 126,587 residents spread across seven municipalities. Once joined administratively with neighboring Kalinga, it became a separate province only in 1995. Often called the “Last Nature Frontier of the Cordillera,” the province remained one of the country’s least-visited destinations for decades before gaining international recognition in 2024, when UNESCO designated much of its remaining wilderness as the 'Biosphere Reserve of the yApayaos'.

Part of Region I (Ilocos Region), Ilocos Norte is home to roughly 620,000 people and more than two centuries of provincial history. Separated from Ilocos Sur in 1818, it has grown from an agricultural heartland into a province where historic towns, working farms, and large-scale renewable-energy projects now exist side by side.

Part of Region I (Ilocos Region), Ilocos Sur is best known for Vigan, but the province extends far beyond its historic streets. Its landscape moves between agricultural plains, coastal fishing communities, and the edge of the Cordillera, while centuries of trade have left behind a distinctive mix of Ilocano, Chinese, and Spanish influences—visible not only in its architecture, but also in its food and everyday culture.

Part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Abra was once administered as part of Ilocos Sur before becoming a separate province in 1846. Its location between the Ilocos lowlands and the Cordillera interior has long made it a meeting point between different communities, with Ilocano settlements existing alongside the many Itneg or Tingguian groups whose traditions remain an important part of the province today.

Part of Region II (Cagayan Valley), Isabela occupies a landscape where two very different versions of Luzon meet: broad agricultural country to the west and the rugged Sierra Madre to the east. Between them are growing cities, farming communities, and remote settlements bordering forests that remain refuges for species now rare elsewhere in the Philippines.
