Via the A4

Traffic officers regularly encounter remarkable behavior from road users. Recovery operator Peter voices his frustration with motorists who stubbornly ignore red X signals, creating serious road safety risks. His colleague Gino faces a particularly challenging task that demands both professional expertise and perseverance. Meanwhile, roadside assistance technician Jeffrey uses his irrepressible sense of humor to cheer up stranded drivers and, whenever possible, get them safely back on the road.

The A4, one of the Netherlands' most important traffic arteries, was opened in 1957 but only recently reached full completion. For decades, a crucial 6.5-kilometer section between Delft and Rotterdam was missing, leaving the connection incomplete and forcing traffic to take alternative routes. After more than fifty years of discussions, planning, and legal proceedings, this missing section was finally realized in 2015. Since then, the A4 runs uninterrupted from the A10 ring road around Amsterdam to the Rotterdam Benelux interchange, resulting in improved traffic flow and a stronger connection between the cities of the Randstad.
