On the first Sunday of the month, Pastor Michael Crawley discovers that half of his congregation has left to join a new church led by his former assistant pastor. Determined to save his church, he appoints his oldest son, Demarcus, as the new assistant pastor and navigates the challenges of convincing the congregation to stay and new members to join. At the same time, Pastor Crawley is dealing with family issues, including the return of his other son MJ who is joined by his young daughter Brianna.

When Pastor Michael Crawley suddenly catches a cold and loses his voice, his wife Lavesta steps in as guest pastor. To their surprise, she's great! Lavesta becomes a hit with the congregation which causes Pastor Crawley to get territorial, leading to trouble in the Lord's house and at home.

While doing premarital counseling for an old friend, Pastor Michael Crawley overhears a conversation with his spouse-to-be that leads him to believe she's planning to kill him and collect the insurance money. And while helping their granddaughters sell GodSco\ut Cookies, Lavesta and Sister Sarah become consumed with competition.

In an effort to expand their congregation Demarcus suggests that they bring in a guest pastor, Pastor Poe who's very popular online because of his “spiritual gifts”. After experiencing his sermon in person, the Crawleys begin to have doubts about the legitimacy of his anointing.

When Pastor Crawley's outspoken and competitive mother, Mama Crawley pays a visit, chaos ensues. With her larger-than-life personality and booming voice, Mama Crawley challenges Lavesta for the spotlight and even insists on taking the coveted "First Lady" position next to Pastor Crawley.

When a distant uncle leaves Lavesta a piece of land in his will, she is approached by Demarcus, MJ and a real estate agent, who all have their own plans for the lot. Unable to make a decision, the three try to bribe their way to the deed, which simultaneously makes Lavesta the last First Lady anybody wants to deal with. Meanwhile, Pastor Michael is forced to address some skeletons in his closet from his Vietnam days, when a vet buddy pays him a visit.
