Produced and directed by Brian Gutteridge, The film 'Hartlepool' presents the History of Hartlepool. Commentary is written and spoken by John Davison with John Heugh providing the historical information. Old colour film from the 1950's shows many of Hartlepool's landmarks including a number that no longer exist such as the mothball fleet. This film only portrays what we call Old Hartlepool now, when this film was made, there were two Hartlepool's. Hartlepool and West Hartlepool. Hartlepool and West Hartlepool did not amalgamate until April 1st 1967. In the 70's and 80's it was not uncommon for older generations to still refer to the town as 'The Hartlepools'.
