Janet Varney does her first palm reading. Then she meets her friend Jessica Makinson for Gelato, where they discuss life choices and try flavors.

Janet Varney receives a visit from Roday, the star of the TV show Psych. He warns her not to intrude on his "brand" as a fake imaginary psychic. She responds that being a psychic is her destiny, possibly. Roday leaves with a final threat.

After a humiliating brush with a scornful customer, Janet attempts her first tarot reading with a lovesick stranger but is crippled with nerves. Attempts to mitigate anxiety lead to surprisingly little results.

A visit from an eclectic group leads Janet to an important revelation about life for struggling artists in Los Angeles and beyond, and the group gives Janet their own special gift.

An unexpected series of voicemails upends Janet's plans and she's determined to find out who or what is behind it. The answer is more disturbing than she could have imagined, and brings a dark new character into her spiritual reality.
