Evolving Vegan

The city rich in history and hearty food surprises with elevated live-fire cooking and an unexpected turn on the Philly “Cheesesteak”. Mena learns to make delectable donuts with funnyman Max Jobrani and crushes an absolutely monstrous “meatball” sub.

Mena visits a city steeped in tradition… and gravy, as he indulges in hearty plant-based Quebecois classics—poutine, smoked “meat” sandwiches, tourtiere, and the famous Montreal bagel.

In the Big Easy, Mena explores a charming host of plant-based Louisiana staples—vegan beignets, gumbo, biscuits and po boys—with food historian Zella Palmer and cookbook author Timothy Pakron. As an aperitif, he sips cocktails created in the heart of the grand city of New Orleans.

Mena feasts with magician and Vegas legend Penn Jillette. He explores the off-strip Sin City vegan food scene, indulging in plant-based “Beef” Wellington, sky-high waffles, and intricate dim sum, then dines with cookbook author Carleigh Bodrug.

Bathed in sunshine and Big Latin Culture, Mena learns to make classic Cubanos and traditional Puerto Rican mofongo–vegan-style. He cruises the seas with cookbook author Radhi Devlukia, takes actor Matt Murray to South Beach for mouth-watering molten lava cake, and harvest and tastes astonishing exotic fruits.

In the heart of Japan, Mena devours plant-based sushi and ramen. He learns to cook Soba noodles from scratch, home-made mochi, and takes part in a traditional tea ceremony.
