Antônia is shocked to see Andréa.

Andréa tries to convince Antônia to confess everything. Hidden, she hears Selma complaining that Bruno isn't coming home early. Coelho demands that Chico hand over the evidence against him. Júlia is overwhelmed with worry. Zezão points a gun at Vavá. Handcuffed, Chico and Renato manage to disarm Mindinho. Vavá hits Zezão with a stick. The three escape. Ariel starts having cravings. Vavá hides in a henhouse. Renato confesses that he turned Chico in. Coelho shoots Chico, Renato steps in front, takes the bullet, and they both fall off a cliff.

Julia has a bad feeling and asks her children to pray. Renato is injured. Chico thanks him for saving his life. Selma orders a new car, and Bruno tells her to cancel the purchase. She kisses him when she sees Nicolau approaching. Diogo decides to help Hélio change his look. Renato is furious when he finds out about the kiss. He asks Júlia to disappear from his life. Gabriela tells Letícia to stay away from Beto. Andréa reads a note in the newspaper about Bruno and Selma's wedding. Beto agrees to kill Bruno.

Julia leaves, devastated. Nicolau tells Letícia he loves her, but she asks for some time. Hélio gets all dressed up to impress Patty. Andréa tries to get information about Isaura. Beto, nervous, can't shoot Bruno, who steals the gun. Selma hears a gunshot. Beto flees bleeding; Gabriela helps him. Selma suspects that Diogo and Andréa may be plotting against Bruno. The car crashes into a wall. Bruno collapses onto the steering wheel, unconscious. Beto spreads gasoline on the car and Bruno's clothes, but when he goes to light it, he hears a scream and runs away. Diogo and Andréa rescue Bruno and take him to the hospital. Selma sees her wrecked car and realizes that Beto made another mistake. Diogo instructs Andréa not to give Bruno's real name at the hospital so that Selma won't find him. Bruno wakes up and refuses to speak to Andréa. Nicolau serenades Letícia, who appears at the window. Selma slaps Beto. Bruno goes to Andréa's house, and she tells him that Selma tried to kill him.

Bruno admits that deep down he already knew, apologizes for everything, and assures everyone that he truly loved Andréa once. Selma feels cornered. Antônia receives a call from Bruno. Bruno fights with Selma, manages to take the knife from her, and drags her out of the house. Selma wanders along the beach with her torn wedding dress. Virginia and Ariel plan their wedding. Selma eats leftovers from a garbage can. Everyone arrives for Andréa and Diogo's wedding. Chico takes Júlia aside and kisses her, infuriating her. In the middle of the forest, Selma eats roots. She notices the presence of two men.

The men don't see Selma. Andrea is hostile towards Julia. Bruno gives Gabriela a ring. Tadeu receives the guests at his birthday party. One of them faints when Virginia says she is Ariel's wife. Selma is helped by nuns. Antonia secretly listens to Bruno and Gabriela's plans. Andrea remembers Selma. At the convent, Selma says her name is Vânia and that she will dedicate herself to God.

Crying, Selma says she's been wrong her whole life. Afrânio tells Antônia that they must return the money to Diogo. Chico agrees to marry Gilda. Selma prays. Bruno pulls out a revolver and orders Diogo to leave. Emanuel faints when he sees Selma. Bruno reassumes the vice-presidency of the company. Tadeu receives a letter informing him that Igor has been kidnapped. Gabriela tells Bruno she is out of money. Selma decides to act upon learning what is happening to Andréa. Diogo puts a revolver to Bruno's neck and orders him to drive away.

Selma searches for Afrânio. Andréa is terrified to see Bruno immobilized by Diogo. Júlia, Marlene, and Apolinário try, in vain, to free Diogo. Sandro offers to work at the NGO, and there's a spark between him and Patty. Ariel punishes Tadeu for the evil things he does to Virgínia and warns him that he will now sleep at Igor's little house. Selma locates Afrânio, who becomes frightened upon seeing her.

Selma says she came to settle accounts with Afrânio. Drunk, Afrânio hands her the suitcase full of dollars. Andréa is spoiled by Bruno. Selma watches the house. Tadeu cries in the doghouse. Bruno conspires with Noronha, a psychiatrist expelled from society, to prevent Andréa from recovering her memory and to induce her to believe only him. Bruno appoints Gabriela as manager of the store; Letícia resigns. Alex proposes to Júlia. On his wedding day, Chico arrives at the registry office and looks seriously at Gilda.

Chico decides not to marry Gilda. He slaps her and leaves the registry office crying. Kléber asks Emanuel if he has heard from Selma. Afrânio tells Meire that Selma's spirit stole his money. Ariel lets Tadeu out of Igor's little house. Júlia finds out that Chico didn't get married. Beto tells Letícia that it was Joaquim who took the money from the store. Gongon wins the lottery. On the other side of the table, divided by barbed wire, the others eat rice and beans. Beto receives the money sent by Bruno. Virginia institutes a curfew, including a blackout. Bill proposes a revolution. Bruno follows Karen and forces her to talk to him.

Karen insists she's not related to Selma. She says she lived in London, that her husband is a journalist, and that she has degrees in industrial design and advertising. Andréa shows Bruno a photo of Selma and asks who she is, but he pretends not to remember. Andréa signs documents without reading them. Rachel kisses Alex, and he confesses to being a virgin. Karen goes to the studio ready to accept Bruno's offer to work there.

Andréa remembers separating from Bruno. Marlene sends newspaper clippings to Andréa. Among them is an article about the scam Bruno pulled on her. Bruno puts a drug in Andréa's drink. The henchmen capture Beto and demand the money back. A tribunal is set up at Ariel's house, and Bill is banished from the house. Rafael is left alone on the street and is rescued by a woman. The car, in which Beto and Gabriela are gagged, is pushed into a lake.

Nicolau and Xana are devastated by Gabriela's death. Bill enters the house pretending to be Tadeu's Russian cousin, Yuri. Beto confronts Bruno and announces that it's time for revenge.

Bruno and Beto fight. Beto is shot. Bruno assures Andréa that he was a robber. Karina and Nicolau want to adopt Rafinha. Alex proposes to Rachel. He tells everyone the news. Selma goes to Bruno's house and hugs him, knocking over an object. Andréa wakes up and catches them hugging.

Andréa begins to remember everything that happened and faints. Atílio obtains a court order to remove Andréa from the house. Andréa recovers her memory, but pretends to Bruno that everything is fine. Júlia and Chico argue about the cover story. Tadeu and Rachel are rejected by the "pregnant" couples. Andréa puts medicine in Bruno's wine. Chico and Júlia make up. Andréa tries to call, but the wires are cut. Bruno wakes up and looks for her.

Bruno appears as Andréa is trying to leave. Marlene screams upon seeing Selma, who introduces herself as Karen. Chico and Júlia argue again at work, and he threatens to quit. Diogo is arrested. Andréa watches Bruno and sees him receive a gun. Atílio, Kléber, and Júlia, with a court order, go to get Andréa. Bruno decides to flee, and Andréa warns him he's going to jail.

Andréa tells Bruno that she has recovered her memory. Bruno drags Andréa out of the house and says she will have to get the password. The police search the house, but find nothing. Júlia reads Andréa's letter and realizes that she has recovered her memory. Ariel and Virgínia plan their wedding. Júlia goes to take care of Letícia, who has the flu and is sleeping at Renato's house. Chico is furious. Bruno confesses to Andréa that he was the one who killed her mother.

Andréa is horrified, and Bruno is sarcastic. Chico argues with Júlia, who is packing her bags to leave. When she leaves, he is devastated. Bruno locks Andréa in and leaves. Bruno asks Marlene for the password and orders the police to stop pursuing him. Renato gives Júlia a ring in honor of the years they lived together. Diogo gives the password to Atílio. Ariel hires Bill as a butler. Selma swears she believes Bruno.

Karen/Selma says she's separated from her partner and offers to help Bruno. Chico asks Júlia to come home. Bruno arranges a meeting with Atílio. Kléber assures Atílio that he will participate in the operation. Renato is thrilled to learn that Júlia has separated from her partner. Bruno doesn't show up when he meets Atílio. When he arrives home, Atílio finds Kátia held hostage. Bruno orders Atílio to give the password, or Kátia will die.

Bruno cocks the gun and forces Atílio to type the password into the computer. Five million dollars are transferred to his account. Bruno tells Selma that they will travel together the next day. Selma follows Bruno and then calls Kléber, giving him Andréa's whereabouts. Chico meets with Gilda, who assures him that she has already forgiven him. Andréa frees herself from the ropes and hides. The police find Selma in the street. Selma leaves. Bruno searches for Andréa with the gun in his hand.

Bruno runs away and gets a ride on the road. Kléber finds Andréa, who returns home. Diogo is released thanks to Andréa's testimony, and the two meet. Bárbara and Virgínia's wedding dresses arrive. Andréa reveals to everyone that Selma didn't kill her mother. Célio gives Bruno fake passports. Chico asks Júlia to come back, leaving her confused. Everyone celebrates Andréa's return with a party. Karen and Bruno leave for Miami. Diogo and Andréa kiss.

Andréa confesses to Diogo that she feels guilty about Selma's death. Bill reveals to Rachel that he switched Bárbara and Virgínia's insemination vials. The double wedding begins at Ariel's house. Júlia tells Andréa that she can't decide between Renato and Chico. Bill reveals in the middle of the ceremony that he switched the insemination vials, but Bárbara says she reversed the switch, and the wedding goes ahead. Júlia talks to Renato, and they end up kissing. Karen reveals to Bruno that she is Selma.

Selma stabs Bruno in the back, and he dies in agony. She flees with the diamonds. Júlia tells Renato she won't move back in with him. The hotel maid in Miami finds Bruno. Ariel tells Virgínia that you can't have everything in a marriage. Ariel authorizes Rachel to take Patty to London. Selma gives the diamonds to Diogo. Virgínia almost faints when she sees Margareth, Tadeu's iguana. Diogo takes Selma to meet Andréa. The two embrace emotionally. Andréa is horrified to learn that Bruno is dead. Bruno arrives in Rio.

Bruno enters the apart-hotel room. Ariel orders everyone to accept each other's differences and eccentricities. Andréa decides to transform the mansion into a school for underprivileged children. Bruno fights with Emanuel and then flees. Selma screams upon learning that Bruno is still alive. Andréa recoils upon seeing Bruno, who demands her diamonds and takes her away. Diogo agrees to exchange the diamonds for Andréa. Bruno points the gun at Andréa's head, orders Diogo to follow him, but, realizing Nicolau is behind them, shoots the boy. The police arrive, but Bruno manages to escape with Andréa.

Bruno holds Andréa hostage. Bruno and Selma duel. Chico and Júlia decide to stay together. A party hosted by Ariel celebrates life and the loves built throughout the story.
