In December 2022, China gradually lifted its COVID-19 restrictions and declared the epidemic over; people looked forward to the future, eager to begin 2023. However, they soon realized that this was not a simple continuation of the normalcy they had known in 2019. A female pharmacist navigates through different spaces, standing alongside the Chinese people at this post-pandemic juncture in 2023, reflecting on the past, listening to the present, and questioning the future: “When will the future arrive?”
