Smashing

Overview

Jimmie Durham is sitting in a suit behind a desk, and like a bureaucrat, he carries out his duties: crushing things. In an orderly manner someone comes in and gives them an object that crushes Durham - violent but unmoved - with a prehistoric stone tool. He stamps and signs a sheet of paper as a receipt, and gives it to the same person, who walks out of the screen. The same sequence of events is repeated several times during the 92 minutes.
