On a hot August evening, a report of a missing little girl, broadcast over the gendarmerie radio, dominates the headlines. Angry crowds, incited by the countless fantasies they've heard on daytime crime shows, embark on a witch hunt in a village they've never been to, never seen, never known. The entire village is crucified, without distinction between guilty and innocent.
