Obscured Visions

Overview

The yakōtake mushroom emits light all day long, but its light can only be seen after sunset. The artist, inspired by its ecology, imagines a “movie” that can only be seen in the dark, and attempts to capture “light” in a forest without artificial lighting, from dusk to midnight. Through meticulous and tranquil imagery with subdued lighting, the artist questions the essence of cinema.
