A Cook and His Lover

Overview

After a failed romance in the city, a cook returns to his Hani village in Yunnan, where his lack of money leaves him with few prospects for love. He reconnects with a former lover, now unhappily married, despite local customs forbidding their relationship. Zhou Yuejun's documentary explores the tensions between desire, tradition and economic change in a remote community.
