A Running Occupation

Overview

Set against the graffiti-covered Israeli West Bank barrier, A Running Occupation follows three Palestinian runners as they prepare for the 2015 Palestine Marathon in Bethlehem. Because no single 42-kilometre route can be completed without crossing a checkpoint, the course loops the same stretch of road multiple times, starting and finishing near the Church of the Nativity. The runners share their personal stories on the move, using sport as a non-violent way to highlight the restrictions on Palestinian freedom of movement.
